How can I restore/clean the aluminum/chrome of the frame of a shower stall
l do not know whether the frame is made of aluminum or chrome; however, l
have a feeling it is chrome.It has a matte finish and the shower doors are
sliding doors.On the bottom of the frame, it looks like the metal has been
corroded or rusted..l tried scrubbing it off and using different cleaners;
however, l was not successful.l am not sure if it is just limescale or if
it is corrosion.Does anyone have a solution to this without having to get
a new frame?Thanks!
It is polished aluminum. If it were chromed it would be steel
undernearth and the edges would rust where it was cut. Is it reddish?
Then it is rust, If it is gray or greenish, it is aluminum. Use steel
wool soap pads to clean the frame.
first try using a rust remover product, such as Zud or CLR or
Naval Jelly, with a stainless scouring pad. If the rust has already
started eating through the metal and making holes, it is too late;
however, after you have really cleaned it and dried it, then use clear
fingernail polish over the affected area.
